Afterburn Book Summary and Study Guide
Would you like to tell us about a lower zans In the latest romantic romp from New York Times bestselling author Zane, two hapless lovers get lost in a dating zwne gone awry.
He has long since accrued some interest in Rayne Waters, a bank employee who’s too beautiful to be true — and too afterurn to be single. At least that’s what Yardley believes, which is why he has never approached her.
Little does he know that Rayne is anything but taken. Not for want of trying, of course. But after barely surviving a dating disaster with her hairdresser’s brother and then falling for a member of her church band who, it turns out, is celibate, she’s on the verge of giving up.

That is, until Yardley — discouraged by his own slew of dead-end romances — finally works up the courage to give her a try. The true craziness, however, is just beginning, thanks to a cast of affterburn who seem bent on botching the young couple’s relationship.
There’s Rayne’s erratic mother, who constantly boasts about being a “good whore”; Yardley’s playboy buddies, always trolling for sex; and, worst of all, past lovers who make a habit of popping up and ruining things as only old flames or previous mistakes can. Weaving the carnal and the comical in true Zane fashion, Rayne and Yardley’s struggle to find love in a world gone mad is a timeless talk about everything that can go wrong in the dating game — and a few things that can go right.

Rayne Waters and Yardley Brown are basically skating through life. Zabe both dating, but haven’t found the right person. They’re both working, but looking for more meaning in their life. They both have an interest in each other from the moment they notice one another at the bank at which Rayne is employed, but neither afteerburn them wants to be the one to make the first move.
Zane spends the first half of the novel letting the reader get to know these zans. Giving insight into their lives, motivations, and how they became the people they are today. The second half is the love story which had me rooting for Rayne and Yardley the entire time. My only problem with this book was the ending, and while Zane’s commentary at the wfterburn of the book explains her reasons for doing what she did, I’m still not okay with it.
Afterburn is a hot, romantic love story as only Zane could do it. My only warning is that you should be careful not to hope too much for a happy ending, because you can’t always get what you want. For years, a friend of mine kept telling me to read Afterburn. I finally decided to purchase the e-book. This was a very realistic love story. You really understood why the characters were the way they were.
Some of the other reviewers stated that he was soft. Here was a MAN who knew how he was, that had a set of standards, and tried not to intentionally hurt women. Yardley would not allow himself to view all women negative because of his past experiences! Zane did a fantantic job on that point and it was very important to see that.
Since I’m sure we have all been guilty of making someone else pay for someone elses bad behavior. There are great African-American Men out there that are not the typical men displayed afrerburn the media.
There are good brothers out there. I will always believe that! Nice to see that Sfterburn displayed that in her novel. I loved Rayne Waters! Totally could relate to her. I did see a lot of myself in Rayne and Yardley. The fact that Rayne was a proud full size woman was fantastic She had it going on with her career, and kept things about life in its proper perspective.
Rayne’s character was very realistic. I fealt Zane did a fantastic job explaining why Rayne had trust issues. I did not expect it to end in the way that it did and I cried my eyes out! But it’s real life! I now look at my at my life very differently after reading this book. Any literary work that can have that kind of an impact on a reader makes it a must read! This book moved me in ways that I did not expect; and it changed me for the better!
The commentary at the end of the book by Zane really hits home!

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I loved everything about this book. I have zero complaints it actually opened my eyes to some stuff that has been weighing heavily on my heart and mind.
This book was awesome and has remind me about how beautiful but yet afterbjrn short life really is. It has encouraged me to believe that I’ll fall in love and have that experience one day when the time is right. I have read all of her books.
I did not believe that she could top “Addicted” which was former my favorite book but she has.
I was glad to see more emphasis place on the story line than in her previous novels that place more emphasis on the erotism. The story line and the main characters in the story have a magnetism that will grab you in and won’t afterbrn go until the last page.
The ending is a complete shocker that will leave you with mix emotions afterburh anger, sadness, and amazement. It will leave you wanting more. You will definitely leave the book an anxious feeling to buy her next book. The ending story line of this book is genius marketing technique for her next book.
Love, love, afterbun this book Of your a Zane fan lile myself, you know she mostly writes erotica, well this book was different It was about love, pure love I always enjoy getting started in a new Zane book. I know I’m always going to love it and this didn’t disappoint. She is such a good writer and has used a good mix of love, drama, sex and humour here. The story lines are never totally deep, but they always get you hooked and you can’t put them down.
I loved Rayne hated her mother and really totally loved Yardley.
He seems to be every girls dream and her characters are most of the reason I enjoy her books. This is an easy read – I did it in under 2 afetrburn. You’ll enjoy it if you have loved her other books, and don’t blush easy. Go get this now.
One person found this helpful. Yardley deserved true love because he was one of the MANY men out here who get overlooked daily. Us as women do that quite often. When all was said and done it was about love and the time wasted before it was proclaimed.
